Zou, Yigui. Xiao shan hua pu [ID D39184]. Zou schreibt : "The Westerners are skilled in geometry. Thus when they depict light and shade and distance they are precise to the last detail. All the human figures, houses and trees in their paintings have shadows trailing behind them. The colours and brushes they use are completely different from those used in China. When they paint a scene, the perspective is presented as from broad to narrow, calculated mathematically. Their mural paintings depicted palaces look so real that one is almost tempted to walk into them." |
