Li, Dazhao. Jie shao zhe ren Nijie [ID D18287].
Li Dazhao schreibt : Nietzsche was a man who was determined to live an authentic life based upon his needs and convictions. He urged the weak to gain strength and the imperfect to seek perfection. He led a life that was tragic, honest, and profound. To liberate and uplift human nature he did not flinch from figthing a hundred battles and he showed great valor in combat. He made penetrating observations about his own mind and life. He relentlessly criticized the social status quo. He took upon himslef to study and address the weakness of human nature and the flaws of civilization. He was certainly a man who loved himself, society, and civilization, and who embraced life with passion.
Nietzsche's thought had gone through three changes. At first he was influenced by Schopenhauer and Wagner and believed that life existed only for the sake of art. Then, influenced by Paul Rée, he shifted his focus to intellect. Later combining art and intellect and relying on man’s will and creativity, he gave individualism a foundation. He fiercely attacked nineteenth century philistinism and materialism. He believed that life's true meaning tends to be obscured by empty takls in the name of religion, morality, fraternity and humanism and men will be grapped in sickness and vices as long as they keep wearing a mask of hypocrisy and always compromise and appease. In order to guide modern civilization into the realm of a new idealism, Nietzsche promoted a superman philosophy, called for heroism, glorified the joy of power, exalted great characters, and preached the gospel of war. His teaching is capable of invigorating the degenerate and the decadent. Since our nation is extremely formalistic and conformist, and handicapped by a slave morality, his teaching will prove effective in uplifting the spirit of our youth and boosting our people’s courage.
