Das älteste China-Buch, das in der Bibliothek von Hermann Hesse steht, ist Schi-king [Shi jing]… von Friedrich Rückert [ID D4634]. Hesse muss das Buch vor 1910 gelesen haben, denn in seinem Aufsatz Lieblingslektüre gibt er an, dass er diese Übersetzung schon gekannt hat, bevor Richard Wilhelm mit seiner Übersetzung 1910 begonnen hat.
