Er liest die Biblioteca italiana, Edimburgh review, Journal des savants und seit seiner Kindheit Bücher über Asien und China, die in der Bibliothek seines Vaters stehen, vor allem die Raccolta di tutte le controversie seguite in varj tempi intorno ai ritti Chinesi [ID D22869].
