Ge, Hongbing. Sha chuang [ID D29713]. Ge Hongbing acknowledges his indeptedness to Henry David Thoreau. He explains the origin of the novel's title affirming that it originates from Walden. In the title page he quotes from Walden the lines : 'Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in. I drink at it ; but while I drink I see the sandy bottom and detect how shallow it is. Its thin current slides away, but eternity remains.' |
