A Chinese novel, much praised by Carlyle. The only English translation oi lu-Kiao-Li is ' from the French version of M. Abel Remusat,' and was published in 1827 : it is now out of print. Allingham urged several publishers to bring out a new edition of the book (for which he wrote a preface), but without success. A copy of this rare book is in Mrs. Allingham's possession…
